Hydrangea season in Tokyo

I never really had an interest in flowers before I moved to Japan, but the fascination with flowers here is contagious. Like everyone else, I love sakura, the cherry blossoms, but my favourite flowers are hydrangeas. They grow everywhere here, and when May and June come around, you can’t avoid them. In this illustration, I wanted to depict the different stages of blooming within the same hydrangea bush, with all their shifting shades of colour.
